Omar

Omar Humberto Zuniga

Chairman of the Board of Directors

National Port Enterprise

Within the framework of the Eleventh Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Ports held in Mexico City from August 1 to 3, 2018, with the principle “SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT FOR PORT COMPETITIVENESS”, general and specific tasks were clearly defined for each TAG.

On behalf of the National Port Enterprise (ENP), I want to highlight our commitment in the preparation of proposals and recommendations on policies and strategies aimed at achieving the main objective; We also take charge of the tasks performed by this TAG under the Presidency of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in order to continue under the path of comparative law studies of the different legislations of member countries to promote consistent, but above all, unified and dynamic positions that reflect in some way, the different national commitments in the establishment and regulation of public policies. In this way we can meet the requirements of legislation on novelty topics that bring us closer as a region, to competitive standards and high efficiency in sustainable port management in the hemisphere.

It also established that the TAG would study the generation of opportunities for port and related investment and contractual modalities to enable public and private investors to reap the benefits; and that it would emphasize the conditions for obtaining said services, tariff regulations, and labor standards.
